FumiDesigns Past (est 2007)

If one were to marry refined fashion from the 1930s and 1940s, with the exuberant youthful energy of the 21st century, FumiDesigns would be the anomalous result. Envisioned and created by Newark, New Jersey born, Miriam Harris, FumiDesigns embodies the soul of old Hollywood and fabricates the self-esteem of the modern woman. With a focus on cuts, fabrics, and stitching that encompasses and compliments a woman’s natural curves, Miriam, brings affordable quality to her custom made pieces.

Already leading the pack with a transcendent design portfolio, FumiDesigns’ catalog includes faux fur trimmed winter coats, blazers, jumpsuits, pencil dresses, and electrifying cocktail and evening dresses. With the option of offering custom ordering, FumiDesigns captivates the daring woman’s attention. “Clothes are more than just things to wear to keep you warm, or protect you from the sun. Fashion is wearable art which allows you to make a statement. Clothes help define who you are,” says the designer. This burgeoning fashion house has been showcased during New York Fashion Week, generated press attention, garnered a mass of social media followers, and has clients ranging from socialites, executives, students, and entertainers. Miriam Harris designed a line that appeals to various personas and empowers them to challenge themselves, no matter what path in life they choose.

A fashion design graduate from Phoenix College, Miriam Harris accomplishments range from designing for the Arizona Ballet Company, Halo Bridal, and working for retail and manufacturing brands such as Guess, Anne Taylor Loft, and Golden Touch Imports. Influenced by Betsey Johnson, Carolina Herrera, Christian LaCroix, and Gianni Versace, Miss Harris final decision to enter into the fashion industry was the therapeutic energies from sewing and love for fabrics and patterns. “When I was a little girl, I remember watching snippets of fashion on TV, and jumping up and down because of the bright colors and patterns.”

FumiDesigns will infiltrate the mind of their audience through avenues such as showcasing her fall 2011 collection at Untapped PR’s Untappned Fashion & Music, 7 on Seventh, various opportunities throughout New York City and the Tri-State area, Philadelphia, D.C, and online at website www.fumidesigns.com. The flourishing clothing line aims to be in major department stores and boutiques within the next couple of years.
